Integrated Campaign Promotes Region as Family Destination

Greene County came to us in need of a total brand refresh. Learn how we developed a new regional persona of a “year-round family getaway” using every tactic at our disposal.

Business Challenge

Greene County in New York’s Catskill Region was struggling against a stereotype from a bygone era of dilapidated family resorts, dated attractions, and amenities with little to entice today’s visitor. Sure, some Catskills resorts had fallen into disrepair, but these were located in the Southern Catskills, far outside of Greene County’s scenic landscapes and vibrant towns and villages. The challenge was disassociating Greene County from the Southern Catskills and rebranding the area.

Solution/Implementation

In 2011, Greene County partnered with us on a rebranding campaign to create the “Great Northern Catskills of Greene County,” complete with a new logo and tagline to evoke the adventurous and artistic side of Greene County.

Through an integrated marketing strategy leveraging our full suite of services, we promote the Great Northern Catskills as an exciting year-round destination that offers thriving all-inclusive family resorts; many other lodging options; two first-rate ski resorts; a multi-layered arts, culture and history scene; world-class events and festivals; and an abundance of outdoor adventures.

A responsive website acts as a one-stop resource for visitors looking to plan their trip or discover the incredible array of things to do in this unique region. In addition, Greene County’s integrated marketing and public relations efforts keep the region top-of-mind as a world-class travel destination for outdoor adventure-seekers, artists, families and leisurely travelers.

I've worked with dozens of consultants and agencies across a spectrum of planning, economic development and tourism. Adworkshop/Inphorm consistently delivers high quality products for our tourism function. They helped Greene County rebuild our entire tourism department into a competitive destination marketing organization. They are always willing to try new technologies and go the extra mile, making them feel like they are an extension of our staff. Most importantly, they are as equally creative as they are in making sure we meet our performance goals.
