Our Story

"One of our greatest accomplishments is the great jobs we have created in this beautiful area - whether we're part of the company or not - we would like that to continue for many years to come." - Adele Connors

...

In 1977, with $400 between them, Tom and Adele Connors started the first advertising agency in Lake Placid. Operating out their very first offices - a converted house - they quickly got down to business. One of their first clients, Fischer Skis, contracted with the duo during the 1980 Winter Olympic Games. After each ski race, Adworkshop imprinted the winners on pre-made posters and shipped them across the country to ski shops.

With their feet in the door and a passion for their growing company, Adworkshop grew from a two-person team to a company with 30 employees over the next three decades.

On May 1, 2009, Adworkshop became the first Employee Owned Company in Lake Placid. Turning Adworkshop over to its employees wasnÌt an easy decision for Tom and Adele, but both want to see the company continue to have a place in the fabric of the community Ò whether or not they come into the office every day.

As an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) Ò Adworkshop's future success is in the hands of its employees Ò creating a collective responsibility to work toward sustainable growth as each person shares in the responsibility of the company.

Adele and Tom have worked hard for three decades to create the largest full service advertising agency and public relations firm from the Capital District region north to the Canadian border. They feel that the ESOP will ensure that their legacy continues into the future.
