Under the direction of the PR, Content and Social Supervisor, the PR, Content and Social specialist is responsible for assisting the team as follows:
- Write engaging and effective copy across multiple channels. Includes traditional and digital publicity, website content, SEO press releases, and social media.
- Develop and create press materials including writing and editing press releases, pitch letters, fact sheets, media blasts, etc.
- Create new story angles and be a very strong "pitch person"
The PR, Content and Social specialist requires superior writing skills, an excellent working knowledge of traditional and digital public relations and a good working knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, the social media space.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
The PR, Content and Social specialist's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in creating strategic PR plans to support brand objectives.
- Obtain significant national and regional, online, and broadcast press coverage and sustain consistent targeted media exposure.
- Maintain media lists when alerted to editorial changes
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with press across industry verticals including travel, business and healthcare in both traditional and new media.
- Manage clients' PR calendars and outreach.
- Manage outreach to internet-based outlets and bloggers, defining top target list and pro-actively pitching.
- Monitor all press hits and maintain bi-weekly reports for clients.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A college degree in the field of PR, Journalism or Communications is preferred, as well as relevant work experience in the public relations, content marketing and/or social media space. Candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office and must have must have strong relationships with national and regional broadcast outlets, long lead, short lead and regional print press contacts as well as online writers. Must be social media savvy and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills; experience writing SEO content is a major plus. The candidate must be a team player, highly organized, detail oriented, resourceful, and proactive.
